Sponsored Family Fun Walk for WATER – Saturday 24th May

At WATER we like to encourage everyone to experience for themselves the wonder of the great outdoors. There’s no better time to start than when children are young. And no better space to explore than the great variety of South Devon’s coast and country landscapes – some in the catchment of our local river. . . the Erme.
So when one of our volunteers offered to organise a sponsored Family Fun Walk we wanted to let all our supporters know in advance.
Two Route Options:
Longer Route – 9km
Starting at Mothecombe Beach car park, this route is suitable for children aged 7 and up who are confident walkers. We’ll cross the River Erme at low tide (expect wet feet!) before following the stunning coastal path to Burgh Island — aiming to reach the top before the incoming tide cuts off the causeway. A brilliant challenge for adventurous kids.
Shorter Route – 4.5km
Ideal for younger children aged 4 to 7, this gentler option begins at Ringmore car park and heads down to Ayrmer Cove, where it joins up with the longer route. From there, everyone continues together to Burgh Island. Please note – there are relatively steep sections to this walk, so a reasonable level of walking ability is required!
To join the longer walk please contact Megan 07775 876 667 or Gemma on 07484 611 417
It’s not too early to start planning your sponsor list. Our target is £500.
